Eiko Jones Photography Workshops and Adventure Travel

Eiko Jones – a nature photographer based in Canada – will be accompanying  this expedition. He’ll provide guests with tips on how to achieve sensational half-half photographs using a camera or GoPro with dome. Eiko has developed a dramatic style that captures the surreal beauty of nature. His work has been published in magazines such National Geographic, British Columbia Magazine, Diver, Sport Diver, Daily Mail, People! , Submerge, Ducks Unlimited, and Orion.

Whether your passion is underwater, macro, landscape or under-over photography, by the end of this trip, you’ll be achieving photographs that are good enough to submit for publication. Topside photographers will marvel at the unusual geological formations, cultural heritage and relics from World War II. The archipelago is home to the largest number of freshwater bird species, so expect to see parrots, hornbills, lorikeets, marbled frogmouths and the famous bird of paradise, to name but a few.                                           Below the waterline, visibility is legendary and the extensive reefs are home to more than 1,300 species of fish and 500 species of coral. Memorable subjects include: pipe fish, seahorses, nudibranchs, turtles, manta rays and barracuda, (to name but a few).

We will be sailing on a privately-owned 77’ trimaran across jelly-blue seas. It has a full crew, 6 single sleeping berths, and three double cabins that are perfect for couples, meaning there’s no single supplement if you’re travelling solo. The yacht also has two tenders to enable those who don’t SUP to explore in a different way.

GETTING THERE Flights depart to Sorong from Bali and Jakarta and from Soorong, we’ll take a speedboat 1 hr 40 mins to Waisai, where the yacht awaits. Flights from Jakarta or Bali to Sorong, (some require with connecting flights in Makassar or Manado) are offered by the following airlines:  Merpati Express Air,  Lion Air,  Wings Air,  Silk Air, Garuda Indonesia.
